The 10th meeting was held 9th-11th August 2024 in Prishtina, Kosovo in the Hotel Prishtina. This year there were 11 autograph collectors from 8 countries and 3 family members. Some members used the opportunity to travel around Kosovo and the countries close to Kosovo.
This year we also had John Barber from Australia with us for the first time and it was very nice to build new friendship with our new member. We really appreciate that he came all the way from Australia to join us.
Our society WLAS was founded in 2013 in Krakow, so this year we celebrated 11 years as a society and 10 years of meetings. Next year we will meet in Nicosia/Lefkosa, Cyprus after the meetings organized in Krakow, Oslo, Žilina-Kunerád, Leipzig, Belgrade, Minsk, Sofia, Sarajevo, Tbilisi and Prishtina.
The first event for the participants was organized on friday evening in the pizza restaurant Bruni in Prishtina.
The annual meeting was realized on Saturday since 12:00 am to ca 3:45 pm with a coffee break in the middle. The programme schedule was very interesting. We started with the obligatory round about our successes and challenges the past year. We could hear 3 interesting lectures by Heinz and Dag. Heinz lectured about The Federal Republic of Germany from its origins in 1949 up to 2024 and The rotating State Presidency of Yugoslavia between 1980 and 1991. Dag lectured about Multiple signed photos of political leaders.
Rune from Norway realized the traditional autograph quiz, which was won by Michal and David. Maciej presented the autographs from Kosovo that the participants had sent to him. He also presented the accounting of WLAS.
During these days we had two very nice surprises as Karl and Christer brought an autograph of Agim Çeku, former prime minister of Kosovo to all participants and Michal surprised the group with signed photos of Adem Salihaj, a former acting prime minister.
It was also very nice to surprise Michal with a honorary membership in WLAS for his tireless and outstanding work to alway make WLAS better and more professional. Since 2013 he has worked hard to make our facebook and website work as good as possible. He has also worked hard every year since we started to invite guests to our meetings to invite and organize meetings. He is our first and only honorary member.
Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus was chosen for the 11th meeting by the participants in the traditional election (the city most voted for in our Facebook poll was Riga). This election was organized by Michal. The meeting will be held 6th-8th March 2024 and we hope to see many of our members there. Normally we had all meetings in August, but in 2025 we will try March.
The highlight of the 10th conference was the meeting with the former president of Kosovo, Mr. Fatmir Sejdiu, who generously spent 2 hours with our company. The meeting started at 4:00 pm in the conference room with the discussion led by Christer and Maciej as moderators, then we organized the photo and autograph session and we finished the programme in the restaurant Liburnia with dinner. Many thanks to Christer for organizing the meeting with the president. We all enjoyed the meeting with Mr. Sejdiu, who was our 8th distinguished guest.
